Money Morality

This section focuses on finding the right moral framing, metaphors, and other ways to connect an accurate understanding of our monetary system to the practical and emotional value systems of all citizens.

How to run a currency Part I: Getting the words right is an initial attempt to correct the outdated and misleading vocabulary we use to describe so much of our monetary system. Political discourse is easily misdirected and sent off-course through bad metaphors, and our discussion of fiscal policy is rampant with such troublesome mental images that bear no resemblance to reality.

Part V in the series, Restoring Hope, seeks to apply a correct understanding of a sovereign currency to the moral imperative of investing in the real needs of people & planet to create a bright future of sustained prosperity for generations to come.

What I Am Not Saying... has been useful for many to understand the distinction between what the monetary system is capable of and how it should actually be used. Because we can do something, that doesn't mean we should. But until we know that we can, we don't use it as we should!

Randy Wray has written an excellent series that's been put into an online book called Framing MMT

Bill Mitchell and the Center of Full Employment and Equity (CofFEE) is doing great work on the subject, as evidenced by this working paper on Framing Modern Monetary Theory
